CANDIDATE ADVICE

It is that time of year again, we get flooded with CVs of this year's graduates and I am sure it is the same for all our clients;
Here are a few rules that will assist you in your search for a job:
Manners still maketh the man or woman... that is paramount. I feel sure most clients feel the same way.
CV's received off a cell phone without even a "good day I am..." get deleted immediately.
Send a word or pdf document. with 50 cvs arriving per day... we don't have time to download your internet profile... guess what we do... you guessed it - delete / CV's that haven't been spell checked - delete / Applicants who apply for a General Managers position straight out of college - delete / CV's sent to several agencies or my clients on the same email !-delete... why should I work on your cv when you are obviously "prostituting" yourself to everyone. Of course you have the right to apply anywhere but its best to select the company or companies you really want to work for or use an agency with a good track record, than splatter your cv across the world hoping it will stick.

Send a head and shoulders photograph... interview appropriate. Clients are not interested in your bikini pose or your drunken matric photo... laugh but we get them!

WE RECEIVE AT LEAST 50 CVS A DAY IN EACH OF OUR OFFICES, OFTEN FROM THE SAME CANDIDATES!
THINK ABOUT THE JOB YOU ARE APPLYING FOR. WILL YOU REALLY GO AND WORK IN POFFADDER? CAN YOU GET TO INTERVIEWS IN GAUTENG WHEN YOU LIVE IN RURAL KZN, OR VICE VERSA, IF YOU REALLY DO WANT TO DO THESE THINGS, ENSURE YOU HAVE FUNDS FOR TRAVEL TO INTERVIEW ETC.

When we do receive cvs , many of them are incomplete. We contact you for further information... if we haven't had a reply to our request for information with in 5 days... in line with the new POPI act, we delete all your information, you don't sit on our database... whilst you hope we will get in touch with you again... We can only keep data for candidates who are interacting with us actively.

Whilst you are looking for a job, look on websites, facebook pages that offer you opportunities to help at functions, etc. at this time of year it's a good time to get in that extra bit of experience and also meet some of the employers in the industry. Contact the right Hotelstaff office and we will do everything in our power to assist you to find a position. If you are struggling with creating a cv we can email you a cv format.
Good luck
